2007-10-09 Alvard Bedrossian on the Meeting Levon Ter-Petrosyan with the ARF Members

Alvard Bedrossian said that the polite meeting of the Armenian National Movement and the Revolutionary Party may not give way to collaboration. During the meeting the sides agreed not to dishonor each other during political struggle. Bedrossian stated that it is Republican Party’s achievement that two political parties of different ideologies, may meet and speak of civilized elections. Alvard Bedrossian noted that political intellect is the most wanted thing in Armenia.

With the support of Armenian national history museum, special material such as the flag of the first Soviet partisan detachment in France, soldiers’ certificates and medals and the secret decree for the formation of Frances eastern Legeon are now on display. An aid to Armenian president Vigen Sarkissian said that the exhibition has been organized as part of the Armenian year in France and will last until November 8.

2007-10-09 Armen Ashotyan on Elections in Armenia

Ashotyan said that the main struggle at the election will be developed among three political forces: the Armenian Republican Party which carries out conservative ideology, the Armenian National Movement, with its extremely liberal ideology and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, the brightest representative of the socialistic direction. Armen Ashotian urged his counterparts to conduct a civilized competition at the election, adding that "black PR" is disgraceful both for pro-government and oppositional parties.

Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Supreme patriarch and catholicos of All Armenians Karekin 2nd issues congratulatory messages on the occasion. Also during the event on the occasion of Media day, “Azdarar” award was granted to the late editor in chief of “Agos” bi-lingual Hrant Dink. The award was received by Hrant Dinks widow Rakel Dink.

2007-10-09 Reconstruction of the Yerevan Streets

According to Yerevan mayor Yervand Zakharian, after the reconstruction works of a number of streets, traffic jams will considerably alleviate in the city center. Zakharian said that crossroads are being reconstructed simultaneously, as they are co-related. Also in order to solve transportation issues, the Yerevan Mayor said that 40 buses and 18 trolleybuses have already been imported and by the end of the ongoing year, another 100 will be imported.

2007-10-09 National Philatelic Exhibition

World Postal Union member countries mark the International Day of Post on October 9. Armenian Transport and Communication Minister Andranik Manukyan said that Armenian stamps occupy a worthy place in the world and many philatelists from other countries are interested in them. Manukyan expressed hope that the exhibition will promote the further development of philately in Armenia. The exhibition will conclude on October 13. While talking to journalists, Manukian denounced the Dutch-managed of HayPost Company for a massive layoff saying the company should improve its financial standing through business development and not by sacking over 100 skilled personnel. According to him all employees must be given a chance to correct their mistakes, if they are not criminally prosecuted offenses. The minister said that he has not had the chance to examine the situation, but in the near future he will demand from the company to substantiate each decision to fire an employee.

2007-10-09 Tony Waag’s Tap City is in Armenia

In 1986, acclaimed tap dancers Brenda Bufalino, the late Charles “Honi” Coles and Tony Waag founded the American Tap Dance Foundation. The company performed on hundreds stages, and film projects. In 2001, Tony Waag created Tap City, the New York City Tap Festival. Tony Waag’s Tap City will perform in Gyumri at the Achemian State Drama Theater on October 11 at 7:00 pm, at the Charles Aznavour Concert Hall on October 12, at 7:00 pm in Vanadzor and in Yerevan Tony Waag’s Tap City will featuring Armenian “NANE” Show Ballet dance ensemble in Stanislavsky State Russian Drama Theater on October 13 at 8:00 pm.
