2007-11-01 Gourgen Dabaghian will give a solo concert

Still committed to the same national genre, Dabaghian’s repertoire will include famous and forgotten folk songs. The Sayat- Nova ensemble and a duduk quartet will accompany the singer. Dabaghian informed that after the concert in Yerevan he will have a number of concerts in different countries. He also said that his new CD will be released in the near future.

2007-11-01 Residents of some Yerevan districts protested in front of the governmental building

A few months ago the number of protesters was larger, but after the government ordered the municipalities to register privatization rights, the number of protesters drastically decreased. Those protesting in front of the government building express concern that if the municipality stops the registering process, their issue will remain unsolved and their property will be alienated without proper compensation.

More than 300 former employees of the company, which currently has more than a 100 pensioners, reminded the Prime Minister this pending problem. The government once again discussed the situation at hand. Officials say positive results can not be expected sooner than a month.

2007-11-01 Echmiatsin or Vagharshapat

Recently Echmiatsin authorities called on a meeting, to settle the issue. A survey conducted amongst the ordinary residents and intellectuals of Echmiatsin revealed that the majority are against changing the city’s name to Vagharshapat. As a result of long-lasting discussions, Echmiatsin authority’s once again confirmed that the only legal name of the city is Echmiadzin.
