| The Chess School Opening Ceremony in Abovian City |
The national teams of Judo, weightlifting and boxing train in the Abovian sport Complex built in 1984, and reconstructed three years ago. During his visit to the complex, Armenian Prime Minister Serj Sarkissian met with boxers training for the world cup championship in Chicago on October 26 and wished them success in the upcoming competition. More then 1,000 children train in the sport complex. The Chess school in Abovian was built on funds provided by parliamentarian, head of the Olympic Sport Committee Gagik Tsarukian and Abovyan mayor and also funds released for “Best Sport Town” annual presidential prize. Serj Sarkissian said that the construction of sport schools must be transferred from the capital to the provinces to surface all of Armenia’s athletic potential. |
