The “Daniel Pearl World Music Days” was created in response to the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl at the hands of extremists in Karachi, Pakistan. After Pearl’s funeral in the spirit of his love for music, his family decided to inspire hope and unity by inviting people everywhere to dedicate a musical event on October 10, 2002, the day he would have turned 39 years old. After 2002, annually two weeks of worldwide concerts- remind people of Daniel Pearls living pan humanitarian principles and the universal power of music. Since 1993, the Paros Chamber Choir has dazzled audiences throughout Armenia, the Middle East and Europe with a repertoire of classic chamber music and ethnic folk music by Armenian, Russian and Western composers. Performing and rehearsing under the direction of Maestro Vachagan Navasardyan, the Choir, which takes its name from the Armenian word for lighthouse, envisages preserving Armenia’s culture and helping improve the living conditions of disabled people in Armenia. |
