Heinrich Theodor Wehle’s works were forgotten for more than 200 years but his pictures and memoirs about Armenia have revived recently. An exhibition of his works is presented at the Center of Innovative Experimental Art. It was entitled: “Caucasus: By the Tracks of Heinrich Theodor Wehle” the exhibition also features Sofi Natushkin and German Florian Bilefeld works the subject again is the beauty of Armenia its nature, the animal world and people. Last year the cultural foundation of the Saksonia-Anhalt continent and the Saksonia-sorbs national foundation decided to reestablish relations with Armenia that existed before 3 centuries. As a result Natushkin and Bilefeld came to Armenian to discover the country anew. Director of the cultural foundation of the Saksonia-Anhalt continent, Manon Bourisien said that this project is experimental for them. She said that, in Wehle’s pictures, one mostly see Armenian nature. She said that was interesting to see how artists would present Armenia its people and nature today. According to Natushkin, in Armenia she found those wide and pure areas, which they do not have for already a long time. She said that she found great hospitality in Armenia, which is similar to sorbs. She said that the 2 nations have many similarities; they both had dispersed pages of history. Florian Bilefeld said that his first visit to Armenia was interesting. He has never seen vehicles fueled with gas, and this much pipes all over the city. Both of them were admired by the stoniness, nature and clearness of Armenia and consider their visit to an interesting adventure. The central purpose of the exhibition was to take what they have seen and felt in Armenia to Europe. They will tell about a small part of the world, called Armenia where there is much to reveal and discover. |
